Under close supervision, the incumbent is responsible for the wirebonding and encapsulating of silicon detector modules for the HGCAL detector project which is part of the upgrade underway for the CMS experiment at CERN. Assembly work at this level requires a high degree of precision, attention to detail and manual dexterity as well as the ability to exactly follow detailed instructions. Given specific and detailed instruction, the incumbent will use and operate a variety of lab equipment including a Hesse BJ820 automated high speed wirebonder, wirebond pulltester, glue dispensing robot, various microscopes and precision tooling. Responsible for performing Quality Control activities such as component surveying and wirebond pull testing and entering results in spreadsheets and databases. Assists the supervisor in diagnosing bonding problems. Reports results and work summaries at internal group meetings.
