Housing Trust Group in Miami, FL is seeking an experienced Development Staff Accountant to support real estate development projects, primarily in low-income housing tax credit initiatives. You will manage general ledger entries, assist with budgets, and prepare project financial reports to guide decision making.
Collaborate with project managers, finance, and operations to ensure accurate data, timely draw packages, and compliance with accounting standards.

We currently have a unique opportunity for an experienced Development Staff Accountant who will focus on real estate development primarily in the low income housing tax credit industry The Development Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in the financial management and reporting of development projects within the organization This position is responsible for assisting in various accounting functions financial analysis and reporting related to development activities The Development Staff Accountant collaborates closely with project managers finance teams and other departments to ensure accurate financial data and support decision making processes
Maintain accurate and up to date general ledger entries for development projectsReconcile accounts and resolve any discrepancies in a timely mannerPrepare financial reports related to development projects including budget vs actual analysis variance explanationsPrepare monthly construction Loan Requisitions Draw packageFollow up with lenders to ensure timely and accurate processing of Draws and resolve any issues or discrepanciesCollaborate with project managers to review project budgets ensuring alignment with overall financial objectivesTrack development project costs and expenses ensuring adherence to approved budgetsPrepare Job Cost reconciliationsReview project related invoices and expenses ensuring proper coding and documentationAssist in the preparation of audit schedules and support auditors during financial auditsEnsure compliance with accounting principles company policies and relevant regulationsCollaborate with cross functional teams including finance operations and project management to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the development process
Bachelors degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent business experience2 years experience in constructionreal estate development accounting
Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations
Proficiency and aptitude for general accounting software programs including Microsoft Office and YardiSelf motivated decisive with the ability to adapt to change and competing demandsExperience working both independently and in a team oriented collaborative environmentStrong communication interpersonal and leadership skillsDemonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems making decisions and identifying prioritiesAdept at conducting research into project related issues and productsTime management skills especially familiarity with calendar management and goal setting
