Job summary

City of McKinney, Texas is seeking qualified candidates for a Planner I, Planner II, or Senior Planner. Depending on experience, education, and qualifications, applicants may be hired at Planner I, Planner II, or Senior Planner.

Under general supervision, the planner analyzes growth, development, redevelopment, revitalization, and the community’s physical organization, coordinating with boards, city departments, developers, and the public to ensure projects meet City goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Planning or related field required.
• Minimum six months’ experience in urban planning; acceptable substitute may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Exhibits RISE values in actions and decisions.
• Maintains department and project files.
• Prepares reports, meeting agendas, graphics, and documentation for Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council meetings.
• Assists in development, drafting, and implementation of growth policies and regulations.
