The City of Manvel seeks a Senior Planner with advanced planning experience to lead complex projects, supervise the Associate Planner, and present to boards and City Council as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, geography, or closely related field.
• Five years of work experience in planning, zoning, or a closely related area.
• One year supervisory experience preferred.
• APA membership or AICP certification preferred.
• A valid Texas Class C Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

Responsibilities

• Under general administrative direction of the City Planner/ Director of Development Services, performs a variety of professional planning duties for long-range and current planning projects.
• Coordinate current development activities and lead complex planning projects.
• Supervise the Associate Planner and provide guidance on projects.
• Review and process site plans, plats, sign permits, or zoning applications.
• Apply knowledge of development regulations and assist in amending standards.
• Use GIS to analyze geographic data and create maps.
• Collaborate with staff from other divisions on development projects.
• Research, collect, analyze, and summarize data into reports.
