Job summary

Salve Regina University is seeking a Development Officer to lead donor identification, cultivation, and solicitation for scholarships, student life, and institutional priorities. You will manage a dynamic portfolio of alumni, parents, and friends, engaging them through meetings, travel, and events to secure transformational gifts.

The role partners with Advancement and campus leaders to drive fundraising outcomes, with a focus on regional and national engagement and measured results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years of fundraising experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to meet donors.
  • Experience with donor relations and university campaigns preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of alumni, parents, and friends to solicit gifts.
  • Plan and conduct 125–135 donor visits annually.
  • Collaborate with university leadership to align funding goals.
  • Provide regular donor reports and track progress.

JOB SUMMARY:

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Development Officer serves as one of Salve Regina University'sfront-line gifts officers, driving the identification,qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of prospective donorsin support of scholarships, student life, experiential learning,and other institutionalpriorities. This role builds and manages adynamic portfolio of alumni, parents, friends, and communitypartners whose inspired investments will strengthen academicprograms, student success, and institutional excellence.

Working in close partnership with Advancement and campus leadersacross academic and co-curricular areas, the Development Officersecures philanthropic support that advances Salve's vision andmission. The officer fosters a culture of philanthropy across theuniversity community, engaging constituents through personalizedmeetings, regional and national travel for donor visits?with aprimary focus on the Northeast?and strategic engagement events thatinspire lasting support. Occasional travel beyond the Northeastwill be required to meet key donors and represent Salve atimportant institutional gatherings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Foster a collaborative and empowering work environment rootedin Salve Regina University's Mercy mission: demonstrate empathicleadership through the positive engagement of Advancement teammembers, campus partners, and volunteers.
  • Manage a portfolio of 150+ alumni, parent, and friend prospectsConduct an average of 125-135 visits annually. Meet revenue andparticipation targets set with the Senior Director ofDevelopment.
  • Partner with Advancement and University leadership, faculty andvolunteers to clearly articulate and align funding goals andopportunities.
  • Solicit and steward parents for membership in the ParentsLeadership Giving Society (PLGS). Collaborate with the SeniorDirector of Development to set donor strategies and annual goalsfor PLGS.
  • Develop strategies that will increase engagement and investmentin the University.
  • Recruit alumni and parent volunteers who can make leadershipgifts, make introductions to peers, and communicate with peersabout fundraising initiatives and events.
  • Collaborate with the Alumni Engagement Team in support offundraising initiatives such as Seahawks Take Flight, Day ofGiving, and help at all levels on Reunion Weekend and Fall Parents& Alumni Weekend.
  • Provide regular written contact reports to summarize meetingsand accurately input constituent activity into Raiser's Edge NXT(CRM database).
  • Monitor and analyze fundraising data to assess theeffectiveness of solicitation strategies. Provide regular reportsto university leadership on fundraising progress, donor engagementmetrics, and areas for improvement.
  • Leverage university events, including athletic competitions,community events, and lectures, to create opportunities to generatedonor leads.
  • Annually meet individual goals and metrics for visits,solicitations, and dollars raised meeting overall Advancement goalsas part of the Advancement Team.

As assigned by the Senior Director of Development and VicePresident of University Advancement.

LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Valid driver's license is required.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmentalconditions.

Requirements:
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years'experience in fundraising (or comparable experience in a universityor similar organization), or equivalent professional experience insales, recruitment, marketing, business development, or publicrelations.

  • Maintain willingness to travel regularly and participate in on-and off-campus events and activities.
  • Embrace an environment that emphasizes measurable objectives,including mutually agreed-upon individual goals and team-wide goalsfor annual, major, and planned gifts.
  • Demonstrate adept technology skills, including proficiency inMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Salve Regina alumni are strongly encouraged to apply.
Preferred :
  • Hold five years of fundraising experience in a universitysetting
  • Demonstrate experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT or acomparable CRM platform.
  • Maintain familiarity with Salve's Mercy Mission and/or holdstatus as a Salve Regina University alumnus/a.
