Job summary

The Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH seeks a Director of Development to lead philanthropy at a premier arts organization. You will grow contributed revenue, deepen donor and member relationships, and manage a portfolio of principal gifts while guiding the capital campaign to completion.

Working with the President and Board, you will oversee major gifts, sponsorships, grants, planned giving, and events, building a culture of philanthropy across the organization and ensuring strategic fundraising for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent; CFRE preferred.
• 7+ years nonprofit fundraising with capital or comprehensive campaigns.
• Proven ability to cultivate and close major gifts.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and board engagement.
• Experience with donor databases and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead a comprehensive contributed-revenue program including major gifts, membership, sponsorships, grants, and events.
• Oversee the current capital campaign and plan for sustainable long-term fundraising.
• Manage a portfolio of principal and major‑gift prospects, guiding cultivation and solicitation.
• Prepare donor briefings, proposals, and recognition opportunities.
• Collaborate with CEO, trustees, and staff on donor strategy and stewardship.
• Develop donor communications and engage partners across departments.
• Set annual revenue goals, monitor dashboards, and report progress to the CEO.
• Ensure compliance, renewals, and rigorous stewardship of gifts.
