Job summary

Democracy Fund seeks a Manager, Development to own institutional grants lifecycle, lead grant writing, and drive fundraising strategy from prospecting to stewardship.

You will coordinate with program and finance teams, manage calendars, and build scalable systems to support annual fundraising goals in the multi-million range. Hybrid in Washington, DC, with strong writing and relationship-building required.

Qualifications

• Experience managing institutional grants and six- to seven-figure grant commitments.
• Exceptional writing ability to translate program work into compelling funder narratives.
• Ability to build scalable systems, calendars, and processes for a growing fundraising operation.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day grant operations, including grants calendar and internal coordination.
• Lead the preparation, writing, and submission of grant proposals and donor reports.
• Identify and cultivate new institutional funders through research and outreach.
• Support renewal and expansion of existing funders and larger multi-year commitments.
• Collaborate with Senior Director and senior leadership on donor relationship management.
• Analyze funding pipeline to surface opportunities and risks for strategy.
• Perform other related duties as needed.
