Job summary

Make‑A‑Wish Central & South Texas seeks a Development Manager to plan, implement, and evaluate signature events and third‑party fundraisers in San Antonio and Laredo regions. You will recruit volunteer leadership, secure sponsorships, and drive an annual revenue goal of $600,000.

You will manage donor relations, maintain Salesforce records, and collaborate with teams to optimize fundraising outcomes while upholding MAW CSTX standards and brand integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of professional fundraising experience in a nonprofit development or equivalent role.
  • Proven passion for Make‑A‑Wish mission and strong volunteer management abilities.
  • Relationship management including site visits, stewardship calls, and in‑person donor meetings.
  • Experience implementing a year‑round high‑touch donor stewardship program.
  • Experience developing and organizing fundraising events is a plus.

Job Type: Full‑time, Permanent, Exempt. Workplace Location: Austin or San Antonio offices; remote work with required in‑office presence two days per week, plus event weekend/weeknight coverage. This position is based in the San Antonio Regional Office, 85 NE Loop 410, Suite 603, San Antonio, TX 78216.

Position Summary

The Development Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating Make‑A‑Wish Central & South Texas’s signature events and third‑party fundraisers in the San Antonio and Laredo regions, with a revenue goal of $600,000 annually. The role recruits passionate volunteer leadership for each event committee and maintains volunteer engagement throughout the event cycle. In coordination with these committees, the Development Manager solicits event sponsorships and gifts from corporations and individuals, playing a critical role in meeting the organization’s overall fundraising goals.

Responsibilities
  • Set and meet event revenue goals with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development, managing the entire fundraising journey from identification to stewardship.
  • Collaborate with mission departments to enhance relationships with corporate and individual donors through wish impact engagement opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate record‑keeping for all contacts and interactions in Salesforce.
  • Communicate event updates effectively across the organization to encourage staff participation.
  • Champion the MAW CSTX mission at meetings, community events, conferences, and fundraising events.
  • Adhere to all Make‑A‑Wish America performance standards and internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead prospecting and donor research for event sponsors and donors, developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for all event committees, ensuring successful outcomes and sustainable volunteer engagement.
  • Build a pipeline of committee leadership with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development.
  • Manage all event logistics, including location, auction, program production, communications, and necessary details for efficient implementation.
  • Collaborate with communications and development staff to create segmented lists and reports related to event attendees and outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing reports and feedback on event outcomes and suggested improvements to meet revenue goals.
  • Serve as liaison for all third‑party events in the assigned region, ensuring approval, guideline adherence, and brand integrity.
  • Cultivate and steward third‑party fundraisers, strengthening existing relationships and identifying new contacts.
  • Research community opportunities to find new funding and engagement prospects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of professional fundraising experience in a nonprofit development or equivalent role.
  • Passion for the mission of Make‑A‑Wish Central & South Texas.
  • Proven track record of strong volunteer management abilities.
  • Relationship management experience, including site visits, stewardship calls, and in‑person meetings with donors.
  • Experience implementing and managing a year‑round high‑touch donor stewardship program.
  • Experience developing and organizing fundraising events (preferred).
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Professionalism, quality customer service, and problem‑solving ability.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and function well in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Collaboration skills across the organization.
  • Experience with a donor database platform, preferably Salesforce.
  • Attendance at events in the early morning, evening, and/or weekends in support of the Chapter’s mission.
  • Reliable transportation for travel across chapter territory and flexible hours.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
