Job summary

Autism New Jersey seeks a Development Manager to lead fundraising operations, ensuring strong stewardship, data-informed decisions, and effective execution to meet fundraising goals.

Reporting to the Development Director, you will manage the annual giving program, community events, and golf fundraising, while collaborating with finance, communications, and program teams to optimize donor impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising operations, or project management.
• Demonstrated experience managing donor databases, prospect pipelines, and fundraising systems.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to analyze data, track KPIs, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Bloomerang), donation platforms, financial tracking, and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of an annual giving program to engage donors, increasing philanthropic participation, and strengthening the annual giving pipeline (with focus on donors of $1-999).
• Manage community fundraising event program including supporting community fundraisers, attending events, and developing volunteer resources.
• Manage all fundraising aspects of the golf event including committee meetings and communications, sponsorship fundraising, benefits fulfillment, and other fundraising activities
• In collaboration with the Development Director, support grant development, applications, and deliverables.
• In collaboration with the Communications team, develop strategic fundraising communications including impact stories.

Required Qualifications

Responsibilities

Digital Fundraising Strategy & Campaigns

• Design and execute multi-channel fundraising campaigns across email, web, social, and print.
• Develop digital fundraising assets including emails, landing pages, donation forms, and campaign materials.
• Plan and implement giving day campaigns and other small-dollar fundraising initiatives.
• Monitor and analyze campaign performance to optimize donor acquisition, retention, and renewal.
• Test and implement new approaches to digital fundraising and audience engagement.
• Maintain a coordinated digital fundraising calendar aligned with organizational priorities.

Department Management

• Serve as a strategic thought partner to executive leadership, translating organizational priorities into clear, achievable fundraising goals and plans
• In collaboration with the Development Director, design, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive development strategy encompassing individual giving, grants, corporate partnerships, events, and campaigns
• In collaboration with the Development Director, manage operations infrastructure, including CRM/database management, gift processing, acknowledgements, reporting, and compliance
• Analyze fundraising performance and donor data to inform decision-making, forecast revenue, and identify growth opportunities
• Support the Development Director’s interdepartmental collaboration to align fundraising initiatives with programmatic impact, communications, and organizational capacity
• Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and workflows, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and efficiency
• Ensure all development activities meet ethical standards, funder requirements, and organizational policies
• Proactively identify risks, capacity gaps, and process inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions

Other Development Activities

• Consult with communications team on the marketing campaign and social media fundraising elements as needed

Universal Responsibilities

• Maintain all relevant professional standards, including ethics, confidentiality, and applicable certifications and licenses.
• Represent Autism New Jersey in the community where appropriate.
• Participate in agency events and any other activities as directed by your supervisor.
• Collaborate with other departments on various projects to support the mission and vision of Autism New Jersey.
• Provide superior customer service by phone, email, and in person.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Development Director, Operations Director, or Executive Director

Notes

• This is a 40-hour per week position that is exempt from overtime rules. The work week is typically Monday – Friday 8am-5pm and subject to approval by the Executive Director. The schedule may occasionally include weekends and evenings and vary depending on the needs of the agency.
