Job summary

NAMI Greater Houston seeks a motivated fundraising professional to advance our mission of improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental health conditions across our seven-county service area.

The Development Officer will lead fundraising and donor engagement efforts, building relationships, expanding funding opportunities, and helping achieve revenue goals under leadership, staff, and board guidance.

Qualifications

• Nonprofit fundraising experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead fundraising events: Manage fundraising strategy and logistics for NAMIWalks Greater Houston and Tri-County, including team recruitment, retention, sponsorships, and fundraising goals.
• Coordinate annual campaigns: Develop and execute annual and monthly giving campaigns through email, direct mail, social media, and personal outreach.
• Cultivate major gifts and planned giving: Identify and engage prospective donors, maintain a top-50 prospect list, and develop opportunities for legacy gifts and multiyear pledges.
• Secure institutional support: Collaborate with leadership to pursue corporate, foundation, government, and other funding partnerships.
• Strengthen donor relationships: Provide ongoing donor stewardship, maintain accurate donor records, and manage recurring giving programs.
• Coordinate development activities: Support donor proposals, facilitate Development team meetings, engage board members and volunteers, and supervise part-time fundraising interns.
• Manage planning and budgets: Maintain an annual development plan and calendar, prepare revenue and expense budgets, and coordinate financial reconciliation.
• Track and report results: Monitor fundraising performance and regularly report progress toward revenue goals to organizational leadership.

NAMI Greater Houston seeks a motivated fundraising professional to advance our mission of improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental health conditions across our seven-county service area.

The Development Officer will lead fundraising and donor engagement efforts that sustain our education, support, and advocacy programs. Working closely with leadership, staff, and board members, this professional will build relationships, expand funding opportunities, and help achieve the organization’s revenue goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Compensation and Growth Opportunity:

This contract position offers commission-based compensation with a performance-based bonus opportunity of up to $10,000. The role has the potential to become a full-time, permanent position with benefits as fundraising capacity and sustainable revenue increase.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates bring successful nonprofit fundraising experience, strong relationship-building and communication skills, experience managing donor databases and budgets, and a commitment to mental health advocacy. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
