Job summary

Evergy is seeking a Development Field Construction Supervisor to manage and oversee field construction and commissioning on renewable energy and build transfer sites. The role requires supervising civil, mechanical, electrical, and control phases and ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget.

The position supports project managers and acts as Evergy’s on-site eyes and ears for quality and schedule.

Qualifications

• Requires approximately five years+ experience in design, construction and/or maintenance of electrical equipment (motors, transformers, inverters, solar panels).
• Supervisory experience in generation, substation, or distribution construction is preferred.
• Combination of education and related experience will be considered.

JOB TITLE: Development Field Construction Supervisor

PAY RANGE: 15D: $106,000 - $141,300
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Other hours as required)

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee all field construction and commissioning work performed on renewable energy and build transfer job sites for Evergy and its affiliated companies. This role will include inspection and management of civil, mechanical, electrical and control phases of installation of renewable energy and build transfer power plants. In addition, this role will help oversee the commissioning process as site are brought online and interconnected with the power grid. This role is intended to support the Renewable and Build Transfer Project Managers to ensure all field work is completed on time, within budget, and consistent with the defined scope. Importantly the role will act as Evergy's eyes and ears on site to ensure that quality and schedule are maintained supporting the successful delivery of new generation resources

Education and Experience:
This position requires experience, approximately five years or more, in the design, construction and/or maintenance of electrical equipment preferably motors, transformers, inverters and solar panels. Supervisory experience in the areas of generation, substation, and/or distribution construction is preferred along with prior experience applying field construction management practices. It is also desired that the selected candidate possess the preferred education and experience as noted below:
The appropriate combination of education and related experience will be considered.

• A bachelor's degree in engineering, construction science, or a journeyman level craft certification is preferred
• Demonstrated experience supervising construction or field crews is preferred
• Troubleshooting and/or equipment commissioning experience is preferred
• Knowledge of project management concepts and is preferred

• Experience in construction, maintenance, resource planning, and design of electrical equipment
• Apply business and analytical skills to identify opportunities for improved efficiencies and productivity
• The position requires high stress tolerance, excellent customer service skills, quick decision-making capability, strong analytical skills, strong planning skills, and the ability to hold each work group accountable to satisfy schedules.
• Excellent human relations, team building and leadership skills are essential.
