Evergy is seeking a Distribution Design Engineer for the Wichita Operations Center. You will liaise with distribution, transmission, substation, and planning engineers to develop organized, actionable designs focused on reliability and sustainability.
Requires ABET-accredited engineering degree and 3–5 years of experience. Office-based with field work, occasional travel, and strong communication skills are essential.

Engineer I: $68,500 - $85,600 - $102,700
Engineer II: $83,600 - $104,500 - $125,400
Staff Engineer: $93,400 - $116,800 - $140,200
Sr Engineer: $94,600 - $126,100 - $157,600
Lead Engineer: $111,400 - $148,500 - $185,600
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under minimal direction, Project Engineers liaise between company distribution, transmission, substation, standards and planning engineers, operations craft and management, and external parties as needed including residential, commercial, and industrial customers, consultant engineers, and project managers. Project Engineers engage project stakeholders to transform engineering concepts into organized, actionable, and safely constructable designs focused on affordability, reliability, and sustainability.
Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. The preferred candidate will have 3-5 years of industry experience.
Job includes, but is not limited to hearing, seeing, walking long distances on uneven terrain, talking, reading, typing, writing, color distinction, depth perception, working outside in adverse conditions, and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, etc.).
Requires a valid Driver's License.
Most work is performed in an office with field work as necessary. Occasional travel to other locations within the company is required. Position requires work beyond normal business hours depending on workload, project deadlines, and service restoration efforts. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
