Job summary

Onto Innovation is a leader in process control for semiconductor metrology systems. The Development Engineer will participate in development, integration, and testing of semiconductor metrology equipment, with opportunities to contribute to design and system integration.

The role requires a hands-on engineer who can work with schematics, drawings, and CAD tools, collaborate across disciplines, and travel up to 30% for field support. Full-time on-site at the primary factory location is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and 2+ years of demonstrated experience.
• Hands-on engineer with ability to read schematics and drawings.
• Experience using CAD software and documenting manufacturing builds.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, test, and troubleshoot systems and components during development.
• Integrate hardware, electrical subsystems, and software for high-performance products.
• Define and document assembly, build and maintenance procedures for new designs.
• Understand manufacturing assembly processes and document for manufacturing and service.
• Release documented procedures via ECO process.
• Travel up to 30% to customer sites; on-site presence required.
• Support field activities and cross-functional collaboration.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary: The Development Engineer will play a crucial role in the development, integration, and testing of systems and components for our semiconductor metrology equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for advancing technology in the semiconductor field. The position offers opportunities to engage in engineering design, integration tasks and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, test, and troubleshoot systems and components as part of equipment development
• As part of system integration, combine hardware and electrical subsystems with software to deliver seamless, high-performance products
• Establish and document assembly, build and maintenance process and procedures for new equipment designs.
• Ability to understand the manufacturing assembly process and generate documentation for manufacturing and service
• Release documented procedures through ECO process
• As part of field support, travel (up to 30%) to customer sites within and outside the US
• Job requires full-time presence on-site at primary factory location

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and 2+ years of demonstrated experience
• You consider yourself a hands-on person.
• Ability to understand and work with schematics, detail and assembly drawings, and procedures.
• Capable of using CAD software.
• Ability to work with assemblers and ATE to understand and document manufacturing build process.
• You are multitalented and interested in very interdisciplinary and collaborative work.

Strong plus

• Experience with Semiconductor capital equipment.
• Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written).

Compensation & Growth

Base Salary Range:

$79,280.00 - $118,920.00, offered in good faith and based on experience, location, and qualifications.
