Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development and engineering support.
  • Preferred pump design and application, oilfield pressure pumping, statistical analysis, and finite element analysis.

Job description

The Development Engineer will take ownership of the full technical product development cycle—from concept generation through product launch—while providing technical support to customers and manufacturing teams. Success in this role requires collaborative problem-solving, cross-functional teamwork, and a commitment to delivering robust, high-quality products that meet the toughest demands.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, design, and develop advanced assemblies and components.
  • Lead engineering efforts from concept through product launch.
  • Troubleshoot and sustain existing products to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and customer support, to provide technical expertise and support project goals.
  • Ensure all designs meet performance, quality, and durability standards for severe-duty applications.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Product and Technology Innovation: Execute R&D activities to identify new technologies, materials, and design techniques to develop innovative new products for the oil and gas industry. Tasks include research, ideation and concept development, prototype development and testing, data analysis, and final product development.
  • Product Improvement: Continuously improve existing product designs and specifications to enhance performance, quality, and reliability.
  • Failure Analysis: Coordinate product failure analysis and develop solutions to improve performance and prevent future issues.
  • Production Support: Address and resolve production-related issues with current product lines to support efficient and effective manufacturing processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across the organization to define engineering project or support requirements, allocate resources, and coordinate tasks to deliver project objectives and deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Customer Communication and Support: Communicate and collaborate with customers from field locations to corporate offices to understand challenges, provide expert technical support, and deliver world-class solutions. Gather Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback in the field for both new and existing products.
  • Project Management: Manage projects from conception through completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Problem Solving: Use expert technical skills to analyze product design, processes, and applications to deliver effective and efficient solutions.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of design and development processes, including 2D drawings, 3D models, specifications, test results, data analysis, BOMs, and manuals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed of the latest trends and advancements in engineering and product design through ongoing education, industry memberships, and professional literature.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills related to mechanical failures.
  • Ability to interface effectively with staff at all organizational levels.
  • Effective communication with customers in both office and frac service field/site environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), Autodesk Inventor, and SAP.
  • Skilled in 3D modeling, and tolerance analysis.
  • Ability to travel 10% - 15% within North America.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development and engineering support.
  • Preferred experience includes pump design and application, oilfield pressure pumping, statistical analysis, and finite element analysis.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
