Overview

Since our founding in 1924, we have reduced cardiovascular disease deaths by half and continue to work toward healthier communities. We are hiring a Development Director, School Engagement – a full‑time, field‑based role that requires extensive travel across Eastern and rural Washington. The position is flexible, often involving early mornings, evenings, and school event schedules. The role focuses on engaging K‑12 students through the Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge programs, fostering physical activity and learning while managing data and CRM systems.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit and engage students through schools and districts in life‑saving initiatives including Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge programs.
  • Implement strategies to fully engage students through classroom challenges, activities, and student assemblies (in‑person and digital).
  • Develop and cultivate ongoing relationships with teachers, principals, and district superintendents.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to volunteers and collaborators, including detailed planning and kick‑off meetings to set schools up for success.
  • Manage and continuously update account information within CRM databases and Microsoft Office products.
  • Handle high‑volume account management, working with 5–10 schools each day either in person or via online/phone.
Qualifications
  • 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or a related field.
  • Ability to perform daily local travel; requires reliable transportation at all times.
  • University or college degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work productively from a home office and in the field, consistent with flexible work arrangements.
  • Demonstrated independent work and proactive communication skills.
  • Comfortable thriving in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
  • Strong data‑management skills, including continuous CRM updates and reporting using Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lift or move large objects, with the expectation of breaking down heavier items or seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings and evenings.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience managing and cultivating volunteer relationships.
  • Knowledge of corporate and community network engagement.
Compensation & Benefits

Compensation for this position is $61,500 to $82,800 annually, commensurate with experience and subject to geographic differentials.
