Job summary

OperaDelaware seeks a Director of Development to lead its fundraising program and drive contributed revenue. The role reports to the General Director and collaborates with the Board, staff, and volunteers to build a comprehensive strategy across gifts, grants, sponsorships, and annual campaigns.

The ideal candidate will manage major gifts, steward a donor portfolio, and oversee development communications, with a focus on IDEA and community impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in arts administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum four years of progressive fundraising with success in arts/cultural orgs.
• Proven donor cultivation, solicitation, and major gifts experience.
• Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising landscape in the region preferred.
• Strong grant writing, public speaking, and communications skills.
• IDEA commitment and experience advancing DEIA in fundraising.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive development strategy meeting revenue goals.
• Manage major gifts portfolio, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship.
• Lead funding with boards, partners, foundations and government grants.
• Oversee donor communications, annual campaigns and events.
• Ensure accurate reporting using CueBox CRM and data analytics.
• Engage volunteers and support board fundraising committees.
• Represent OperaDelaware in the community and stay current on trends.
