Job summary

Safe Place for Youth in Venice, CA, seeks a Director of Development to lead fundraising and donor relations for a $5M budget. Reporting to the Chief Impact Officer, you will guide strategy, supervise the team, and drive growth across individual, corporate, and foundation giving.

You will build and maintain donor pipelines, craft compelling campaigns, and collaborate with senior leaders to maximize revenue and impact for homeless youth services in Los Angeles.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in developing fundraising strategies and year-round campaigns.
• 2+ years supervising a diverse team.
• Experience securing six-figure gifts via in-person solicitations.
• Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
• Experience with CRM systems and donor analytics (GiveSmart preferred).
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Track record of strategic messaging and campaigns driving objectives.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and organize priorities.
• Knowledge of homeless services/nonprofit landscape in LA.
• Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute multi-year fundraising goals and annual work plan to raise $5M.
• Oversee a donor database and ensure accurate stewardship.
• Collaborate with CIO/CEO/board on donor strategy and cultivation.
• Motivate and mentor the Development team to a healthy, collaborative culture.
• Support Senior Grants Manager with renewals and new opportunities.
• Manage a portfolio of high-net-worth donors and tailored plans.
• Grow the corporate donor portfolio and oversee partnerships team.
• Guide SPY's Volunteer Program and Drop-In Center Meals program.
• Lead planning of SPY's annual gala for sponsorships and revenue.
• Coordinate with Marketing to align messaging and ROI.
• Oversee Development budget and PQI initiatives.
• Perform other duties to support mission.
