Job summary

Houston SPCA seeks a strategic Director of Development to secure philanthropic support enabling rescue, healing and protection of animals. The role blends relationship-building with hands-on fundraising, donor cultivation, and leadership of a high-performing team.

You will drive donor engagement across portfolios, craft meaningful stewardship, and partner across departments to boost revenue and impact for animals in need.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive fundraising experience including major gifts.
• Demonstrated success securing gifts of $25,000+.
• Experience managing donor portfolios and cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Leadership experience including supervising staff, budgets, and strategy.
• Experience using donor databases and CRM systems, preferably Raiser's Edge.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field; CFRE certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with donors, corporate partners, foundations, and community leaders.
• Move supporters through the donor journey from engagement to major gifts.
• Create personalized stewardship experiences that convey impact of giving.
• Identify opportunities for revenue growth while strengthening donor relationships.
• Collaborate across philanthropy, marketing, finance, and operations for a seamless donor experience.
• Lead and develop a high-performing fundraising team.
• Use data and reporting to set goals and measure results.
• Elevate fundraising events through sponsorships and partnerships.
