Job summary

George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, in partnership with the Hylton Performing Arts Center, seeks a Director of Development. You will provide strategic leadership for fundraising and philanthropic engagement to support artistic programming, education initiatives, student success, and long-term sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Proven success in major gifts fundraising.
• Experience developing fundraising strategies.
• Experience managing staff and multiple projects.
• Knowledge of donor lifecycle management.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in donor engagement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to align fundraising with institutional priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with center and college priorities.
• Manages a portfolio of major and principal gifts and leads campaign planning.
• Supervises development staff and oversees annual giving, stewardship, and reporting.
