Job summary

New Narrative in Portland, OR is seeking a Development Director to lead private fundraising initiatives and grow philanthropic support. This hands-on role focuses on building a robust donor pipeline, soliciting major gifts, managing campaigns, sponsorships, and annual giving while supervising the Development team.

You will collaborate with staff, Board members, partners, and funders, steward relationships, and ensure strategic use of CRM and project-management tools to protect donor information

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of fundraising, business development, or related revenue experience.
• Proven success cultivating and soliciting individual donors, corporate partners or sponsors.
• Experience with fundraising campaigns, sponsorships, donor stewardship, or annual giving.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building relationships, creating opportunities, and turning connections into meaningful philanthropic support.The Development Director will build and manage a pipeline of individual donors, corporate partners, sponsors, and foundation prospects; cultivate and steward relationships; and make direct financial asks. The Director will also lead fundraising strategy for annual giving, Give!Guide, sponsorships, donor cultivation, and major events while helping expand New Narrative’s community of supporters.As the leader of the Development Department, the Director supervises the Communications & Engagement Coordinator and Development Assistant and coordinates with grant writers, communications consultants, organizational leaders, program teams, and Finance.We’re looking for someone who:Has approximately 4–5 years of progressively responsible fundraising, business development, or other relationship-based revenue experience.Has demonstrated success cultivating and soliciting individual donors, corporate partners, or sponsors.Enjoys developing new relationships and building a strong, active prospect pipeline.Works effectively with donors, community partners, executives, Board members, and colleagues across an organization.Has experience with fundraising campaigns, sponsorships, donor stewardship, cultivation events, or annual giving.Is organized, proactive, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.Is comfortable using CRM and project-management systems to support relationship management and follow-through.Has experience supervising staff, contractors, volunteers, or complex cross-functional projects.Is comfortable using modern technology while exercising sound judgment and protecting confidential information.Is enthusiastic about New Narrative’s mission and about using philanthropy to strengthen services for people seeking mental health care.All of our job openings are located in Portland, Oregon, and the surrounding metro areas.
