Job description

About Wilshire Boulevard Temple

One of America’s most highly respected congregations, Wilshire Boulevard Temple has been serving the Los Angeles Jewish community since its founding in 1862 as Congregation B’Nai B’Rith, the city’s first synagogue. Today, Wilshire Boulevard Temple carries out the mission through a variety of ways, as a center for Jewish spirituality and celebration, a place for lifelong learning and friendship and home to an engaged congregation where every person can make a difference. We have three locations to serve our communities: the historic Erika J. Glazer Family Campus in Wilshire Center/Koreatown, our modern Audrey and Sydney Irmas Campus in West Los Angeles, and our inviting Resnick Campus in Brentwood.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Development Data Specialist to generate and maintain development reporting based primarily on CRM data as requested by fundraisers and fundraising support staff. This role serves as a critical bridge between the Development/Advancement team and Information Systems, ensuring accurate data, timely report delivery, and enabling staff to run their own reports.

Full‑time position reporting to the Information Systems Director with a strong functional relationship to the Director of Institutional Advancement.

Salary range: $70,000 – $78,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and data summaries to support development staff and leadership decision‑making
  • Generate donor acknowledgement letters and manage donor communication template documents as prescribed by development staff
  • Support CRM management by monitoring alignment of fundraising data with organization objectives and systemic policy/procedure
  • Execute and support prospect research in specialized tools and publicly accessible wealth data sources
  • Coordinate regularly with the Accounting department to ensure accurate, consistent, and timely collection of all donation activity for donors
  • Monitor and correct soft credit and hard credit assignments to ensure accurate giving totals
  • Support development and maintenance of programmatic reporting, annual reports, and data for promotional materials as requested
  • Support campaign and portfolio management efforts by updating donor records with records of engagement and moves management
  • Regularly transfer data from spreadsheets, web forms, or integrated third‑party applications to centralized databases, cloud‑based storage platforms, or other software applications used in operational processes
  • Train and support Development staff on self‑service reporting tools in RE NXT
  • Create documentation, guides, and standard operating procedures for common report functions
  • Serve as first point of contact for reporting questions and troubleshooting
Must‑Have Attributes
  • Ethical and Honest. Trustworthiness is paramount for this role. The person in this role must be reliable, accountable, and forthright in their professional dealings/engagements.
  • Service‑minded. The person in this role must place a high value on providing and maintaining clear/thorough communication and support to the people they work with and for.
  • Proactive. The person in this role must be able to work independently on projects through to completion with minimal supervision. Along the same vein, this person must be comfortable asking questions or searching prescribed resources for answers when they encounter a problem – "winging it" is strongly discouraged.
  • Responsive. Ability to deliver accurate reports within reasonable timeframes to support time‑sensitive fundraising activities.
Skill and Education Criteria
Required:
  • 3years experience with RE7 (Raiser's Edge database view) and RENXT data entry, querying and exporting
  • 1 year of experience either in Development operations or as a data‑centric gifts officer/fundraiser
  • Experience processing and auditing data in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Experience developing and managing reports in business intelligence tools (i.e., PowerBI, Tableau)
  • High School diploma or GED
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with conventional fundraising stages and activities, as well as donor management and engagement strategies
  • Familiarity with synagogue/temple membership and engagement programs
  • Familiarity with summer camp registration processes
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture and holidays
  • Experience with Salesforce (organization's future CRM direction)
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud Financial Edge for gift reconciliation
Big Plus:
  • MOS Excel certification
  • Bachelor's degree or formal education in data analytics
  • Blackbaud Certified Professional (b‑CRE or b‑CRE‑Pro) certification
