Job Summary


Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate, Foundation, andStrategic Initiatives, the Coordinator supports the Office ofStrategic Initiatives (OSI) in advancing the College’s fundraisinggoals through grant seeking. The coordinator providesadministrative, research, and project management support to OSIteam members. This position assists with managing grant applicationprocesses, maintaining donor records, supporting stewardshipactivities, identifying funding opportunities, and coordinatingwith partners across Institutional Advancement, as well as with keycampus partners, including faculty, the Sponsored Research Office,the Business Office, and others. The coordinator plays a key rolein advancing private philanthropy at Oxy by ensuring timely,accurate, and donor-centered engagement.


This position is represented for purposes of collective bargainingby SEIU.


Upon successful completion of the probationary period, thisrole is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, requiring threedays on-site per week.


Job Duties


  • 50% - Support for Grants, Prospects, and PipelineDevelopment - Provides project management and support for thedevelopment, submission, and tracking of grant proposals, reports,and supporting documentation. Maintains grant calendars andmonitors deadlines throughout the grant lifecycle. Gathersorganizational, financial, and programmatic information requiredfor grant proposals and report submissions. Ensures alignment withinstitutional policies and procedures for grant management.Coordinates meetings, campus visits, and donor engagementactivities. Assists in preparing stewardship reports and impactcommunications and supports efforts to strengthen relationshipswith current and prospective funders. Conducts prospect research oncorporate and foundation funders, monitors funding opportunities,and distributes relevant information to internal stakeholders.Maintains prospect profiles and funding opportunity records inSalesforce (CRM). Supports cultivation strategies by preparingbriefing materials and prospect analyses. - (Essential)

  • 30% - Database and Records Management - Tracks donorinteractions and maintains accurate, up-to-date records related tocorporate and foundation funding. Ensures data integrity andhygiene in Salesforce. Ensures compliance with organizationalpolicies and donor requirements. Organizes and manages electronicfiles related to grants and donor agreements. - (Essential)

  • 20% - Cross-Functional Collaboration - Providesefficient and effective support to faculty grant seekers.Coordinates internal reviews and approvals for grant submissions inpartnership with the Sponsored Research Office (SRO). Activelyparticipates in development team meetings and planning activities.Assists with special projects and Institutional Advancement (IA)events that support the College's fundraising goals. Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts or other fields related toposition responsibilities, or an equivalent combination ofeducation and experience.

  • Three years of experience in fundraising, grant administration,nonprofit development, donor relations, higher education, projectmanagement, or other relevant administrative experience.

  • Ability to analyze, synthesize and organize data, and presentfindings in a cogent manner for different audiences.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel,PowerPoint), Google drives/folders/forms, Adobe Acrobat, or anycombination of productivity programs applicable to positionresponsibilities.

  • Demonstrated detail-orientation and thoroughness; skilled atanticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a widevariety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.

  • Strong commitment to a quality work product.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, inwriting and electronically. Effective interpersonal skills asevidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety ofconstituencies.

  • Demonstrated skill in adapting to and performing workeffectively in high-volume, high accountability, confidentialenvironment with multiple and changing priorities.

  • Demonstrated skill with database management and evidence of anability to master these resources.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience using and maintaining Salesforce or other CRM isvery desirable; experience working with faculty.


EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $20.19/hr-$26.00/hr


If you are offered this position at Occidental College, your finalbase salary compensation will be determined based on factors suchas skills, education, experience, and/or geographic location. Inaddition to those factors, Occidental complies with applicable payequity laws and considers internal equity among current employeeswhen developing the final offer. Please keep in mind that the rangementioned above is the base salary range for the role. Hiring atthe maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow forfuture and continued salary growth. We also offer a generouscompensation and benefits package.
