Job summary

The Minnesota Boychoir seeks a thoughtful, detail-oriented Development and Communications Manager to support fundraising and communications on a 0.5 FTE, 20 hours/week basis in a hybrid Twin Cities environment. You will write grants, manage donor communications, support the annual fund and gala, and help coordinate organizational storytelling across social media, newsletters, and reports.

Job Title: Development and Communications Manager (0.5 FTE; 20 hours/week)

Reports To: Managing Director

Location: Hybrid (Twin Cities area)

Compensation: Part-time, salaried, non-exempt, $30,000 annually

Serving boys and young men from diverse backgrounds across the Twin Cities, the Boychoir provides exceptional musical training, performance opportunities, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Position Summary

The Minnesota Boychoir seeks a thoughtful, detail-oriented, and creative professional to support its fundraising and communications efforts. This half-time role is central to sustaining and growing the organization's impact—helping ensure more young people have access to transformative musical experiences. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, an organized project manager, and someone who finds joy in connecting people to mission-driven work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research, write, and manage grant proposals and reports for foundation, corporate, and government partners.
  • Support the planning and execution of the annual fund campaign and annual fundraising gala (in collaboration with staff and volunteers).
  • Steward donors through thoughtful, timely communications, engagement strategies, and annual tax acknowledgment letters.
Communications & Storytelling
  • Create and manage engaging social media content that reflects the spirit and impact of the Boychoir.
  • Produce a quarterly newsletter featuring singers, alumni, and program highlights.
  • Lead the development and production of the organization's annual report.
  • Partner with the Managing Director to create and coordinate overarching organizational communication strategies.
Data & Systems Management
  • Maintain and manage the donor CRM, ensuring accurate, up-to-date records and donor tracking.
  • Generate reports, mailing lists, and donor insights to support data-driven development strategies.
Qualifications
  • Proven writing and editing skills, particularly for grants, donor appeals, and public communications.
  • Background in nonprofit development, communications, or arts administration preferred.
  • Proficiency or familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Little Green Light, eTapestry, Bloomerang), email platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), Google Workspace, Canva, and payment platforms (Square, PayPal).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
  • A deep appreciation for the arts and commitment to the mission of the Minnesota Boychoir.
Job Requirements & Work Environment
  • Part-time with a flexible, hybrid schedule; occasional evening/weekend availability required for concerts and major events.
  • Requires extended periods of sitting, working at a computer monitor, and keyboarding.*
