Diversity, Belonging, Inclusion, and Equity at Enroot

Creating a sense of belonging is at the heart of our work with immigrant students. At Enroot, we strive to create an inclusive workplace where every team member feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute as a partner in advancing our mission. We are committed to disrupting the oppressive systems and structural barriers that immigrants navigate every day. With humility, we continue to learn, listen, and deepen our commitment to racial equity, grounding our decisions and actions in the pursuit of greater opportunity and justice for immigrant communities. We believe that diverse perspectives strengthen our organization, leading to more thoughtful decisions and better outcomes for the young people and families we serve. Enroot is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on any basis protected by law.

The Opportunity

Reporting to and in partnership with the Acting Director of Development, the Development and Communications Manager will play a key role in advancing Enroot's mission by supporting fundraising, communications, events, and general development administration. This is a new position at Enroot that will help elevate our fundraising and communications efforts—grounded in equitable, asset-based storytelling practices—while strengthening the relationships and systems that support sustainable fundraising.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and moving fluidly between creative and systems work—one day drafting a donor newsletter, the next digging into Salesforce data. You're a natural project manager who thrives on organization and follow-through, but you're equally comfortable telling a compelling story or crafting donor-facing materials. You like working in a small, fast-paced team where your role will grow and evolve, and you're energized by the idea that your day-to-day work directly strengthens relationships with the people who make Enroot's programs possible.

As a growing organization, Enroot values flexibility and collaboration. While the primary areas of responsibility are outlined below, responsibilities may evolve over time to reflect organizational priorities, team capacity, and the strengths and interests of the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities
Development Communications
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of Enroot's general communications calendar, including newsletters, website content, social media, and other external communications.
  • Partner with the Acting Director of Development to develop and implement Enroot's development communications calendar, including fundraising appeals, donor newsletters, stewardship communications, impact reporting, and other donor-facing materials.
  • Collaborate with the Acting Director of Development to craft segmented donor engagement strategies and targeted communications for key audiences.
  • Strategize and draft content for key grant proposals and prepare grant reports.
  • Create compelling collateral to support donor cultivation, foundation outreach, corporate engagement, and other external partnerships.
  • Work closely with program staff to collect stories, photos, and outcomes data that strengthen fundraising communications and showcase Enroot's impact.
Development Operations
  • Manage Salesforce CRM, ensuring accurate donor records, gift processing, reporting, data integrity, and other core development operations.
  • Coordinate gift reconciliation with the Finance team and continuously strengthen development systems, workflows, and documentation.
  • Execute timely donor acknowledgment and generate donor reports, dashboards, and briefing materials.
  • Support the planning and execution ofinnovative donor cultivation, education, and appreciation initiatives that strengthen relationships and deepen donor engagement.
  • Conduct prospect research to support fundraising strategy and relationship management.
Events & Strategic Projects
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of fundraising, donor, volunteer, and community engagement events, including logistics, communications, event materials, guest management, and post-event follow-up.
  • Provide project management and operational support to the Acting Director of Development and Executive Director across strategic fundraising, communications, and donor engagement initiatives.
  • Support board and committee engagement by preparing meeting materials, tracking action items, and coordinating follow-up.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in nonprofit development, communications, marketing, or fundraising.
  • Passion for Enroot's mission and a commitment to educational opportunity and immigrant communities.
  • Highly collaborative, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities with overlapping timelines.
  • Experience working with CRM or database systems; Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Experience producing visually engaging newsletters, fundraising communications, or other marketing materials.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Canva or an equivalent design platform.
  • Ability to analyze information, manage data accurately, and maintain confidentiality.
