Reports To: Director of Development
Location: Flexible; preference for candidates in the greater Philadelphia/Main Line region
Compensation: Part‑time compensation of approximately $25–$30/hour. Flexible arrangements, including contractor or freelance engagements, may be considered for the right candidate.

About Main Line School Night

Main Line School Night (MLSN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to lifelong learning, curiosity, and connection. Through classes, lectures, excursions, special events, and partnerships, MLSN serves thousands of adults annually with engaging educational opportunities that enrich lives and strengthen community.

As MLSN continues to grow sponsorships, fundraising initiatives, membership programs, strategic partnerships, and audience engagement opportunities, we are seeking a collaborative communications professional to help support development initiatives and expand organizational visibility and engagement.

Position Summary

The Development Communications & Engagement Associate supports Main Line School Night’s fundraising visibility, sponsorship initiatives, membership efforts, donor engagement activities, and development communications initiatives.

Working closely with the Director of Development and in partnership with the Marketing team, this role helps coordinate communications, outreach, special initiatives, and audience engagement efforts that strengthen support for MLSN’s mission.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, collaborative, and creative, with strong communication skills, data entry and reporting, and an interest in nonprofit fundraising, relationship‑building, and community engagement.

This role is intentionally flexible and may be structured as a part‑time employee position, contractor, consultant, or freelance engagement based on organizational needs and candidate experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support annual fundraising initiatives including Annual Appeal, Giving Tuesday, Delco Gives, membership campaigns, and donor communications
  • Assist with donor stewardship outreach, acknowledgments, and engagement communications
  • Support sponsorship fulfillment and visibility efforts
  • Assist with preparation of sponsorship materials and communications tools
  • Coordinate donor, sponsor, and membership communication activities
  • Support development‑related storytelling and visibility efforts
Membership & Engagement Support
  • Support initiatives designed to strengthen membership growth and retention
  • Assist with member and donor engagement activities and experiences
  • Support communications related to membership initiatives and member‑focused events
  • Help strengthen awareness of membership benefits and opportunities for engagement
Special Initiatives & Event Support

Assist with communications and coordination around special initiatives and events, including:

  • Visionary Voices
  • Members‑only events
  • Sponsored programming initiatives
  • Community and engagement initiatives
Sponsorship & Partner Engagement Support
  • Assist with communications and outreach related to sponsored classes and programs
  • Support audience‑building efforts surrounding sponsored initiatives
  • Help coordinate sponsor visibility opportunities and fulfillment efforts
  • Support communications tied to community and institutional partnerships
Collaboration with Marketing

Work collaboratively with MLSN’s Marketing team to support shared organizational goals while maintaining alignment around messaging, timing, and audience strategy.

Examples may include:

  • Partnering on outreach efforts designed to increase participation in sponsored classes and programs
  • Coordinating communications calendars and messaging schedules
  • Supporting donor and member messaging distributed through broader MLSN communication channels
  • Assisting with annual appeals, membership campaigns, and fundraising initiatives requiring organization‑wide outreach
  • Coordinating audience segmentation and outreach opportunities
  • Helping ensure consistent brand and message alignment
Digital Outreach & Audience Engagement
  • Assist with LinkedIn and community outreach efforts designed to strengthen awareness among businesses, sponsors, foundations, and community partners
  • Help identify opportunities to expand engagement and visibility
  • Support tracking of communications performance and audience engagement trends
Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience with donor databases, CRM platforms, audience management tools, or constituent tracking systems preferred
  • Experience with social media, email communications, or nonprofit engagement preferred
  • Familiarity with Canva and content creation tools preferred
  • Experience with LinkedIn or community engagement efforts a plus
