Job summary

Vail Resorts is hiring for winter 2026/27 as a Ski & Ride Coach within our Mountain Development program. Roles include alpine instruction, athlete development, and safety supervision across varied terrain.

Starting wage ranges from $21.00/hr to $40.00/hr; roles are winter seasonal with 16+ age requirement. Housing is not provided. Applications close December 15th or when filled.

Qualifications

• PSIA/AASI and/or USSA/FIS certification recommended.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Attend Ski and Ride training sessions.
• Must be fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Must have excellent guest service skills.
• Must have excellent communication skills.
• Must work well in a team.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment.
• Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn, follow and provide directions.
• Must be available to work holidays and weekends.
• Must be able to lift, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently.

Responsibilities

• Uphold guest and personal safety on varied terrain in winter conditions.
• Clearly instruct skiing or snowboarding to students at assigned levels.
• Match athletes to appropriate ski level and coordinate changes with supervisors.
• Assist guests loading and unloading chairlifts.
• Communicate instructions clearly and assist athletes during training and competitions.
• Supervise athletes and assist during snack times.
• Support competition services including registration and equipment fitting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Alpine/Freestyle/SnowboardDevelopmentcoaches workto provide quality ski/snowboard instruction and coaching of athlete development to athletes in a safe and fun environment while upholding all aspects of the Skier Responsibility Code, Park SMART and Company guidelines.Development coaches work with a designated group of athletes of similar age and skill for the whole season, working to help develop the skills needed to progress in their desired discipline.

Job Responsibilities:

• Upholding the highest levels of guest and personal safety on varied terrainunder varying winter weather conditions.
• Clearly and accurately instructing assigned levels of skiing or snowboarding to students, both physically and verbally.
• Ensuring that athletes are matched toappropriate skierskill level and working with supervisors/managers to makeappropriate changeswhen necessary.
• Assistingguests to load and unload the chairlift.
• Clearly communicating instructions andassistingathletes during training sessions and at competitions; lifting children by the vest (if applicable).
• Supervising athletes in trainingat all times;assistingat snack times; ensuring return of athletes toidentifiedguardian.
• Assistingin operational responsibilities of competition services and related SRS programs including but not limited to registration process, directing athletes toappropriate equipmentfitting source, upkeep of outdoor training areas, and cleanliness of facilities.
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

The expected pay range is$21.00/hr - $40.00/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
