About the Organization

Adalah Justice Project (AJP) is a Palestinian-led advocacy organization based in the U.S. that builds cross-movement coalitions to achieve collective liberation. We draw connections between U.S. policy abroad and repressive practices at home to fight to achieve justice for Palestinians and all oppressed communities. At AJP, our main goals are:

  • To build up the progressive movement here in the U.S. that reflects our values, and ensures that Palestine is not only included in, but also informs, all movements for justice;
  • To translate on the ground organizing in Palestine for an American audience, which our staff are uniquely positioned to do;
  • To seed economic activism campaigns that divest resources from corporations and financial vehicles that maintain Israel’s oppression of the Palestinian people.
Position Overview

The Development Associate will play a vital role in resourcing Adalah Justice Project's movement work by partnering closely with the Development Director and Co-Executive Director to build the fundraising infrastructure that sustains our organizing and builds our collective power. This role reports to the Development Director and centers on cultivating relationships with major donors who share our commitment to Palestinian liberation and cross-movement solidarity, while providing administrative, copywriting, and logistical support for our annual appeal and rapid response fundraising efforts. The Associate will help shape how we communicate with our donor community by writing and editing compelling copy, managing donor data, and coordinating events, phonebanks and appeals. This is a temporary position running from mid-October through mid-February, with the possibility of extension to be determined in December or January.

Responsibilities
  • Support Fundraising Appeals (45%)
    • Support the development team in ensuring both annual and other fundraising appeals, including monthly donor drives, are successful
    • Drafting & editing copy
    • Organizing data & lists
    • Conducting outreach to major donors
    • Supporting various other administrative tasks
    • Draft effective copy for email campaigns that engage supporters, grow the email list, and drive donations
  • Donor Relations (30%)
    • Work with the Development Director to deepen relationships with major donors
    • Schedule in-person visits
    • Manage thank you phone calls
    • Draft & send handwritten notes
    • Draft personalized email updates
  • Event Coordination (5%)
    • Support the planning & coordination of events for major donors, including house parties, in-person fundraisers, and virtual briefings
  • Lapsed Donor Outreach (5%)
    • Conducting regular outreach to lapsed donors
  • Data Management (5%)
    • Help maintain the donor database by ensuring accurate data input and regular updates
  • Team Support (10%)
    • Provide support and guidance to other members of the development team
    • Coordinate training sessions for staff or volunteers, particularly on development tools or systems
    • Help identify opportunities for rapid response online fundraising opportunities that advance organizational priorities
    • Conduct research on prospective donors and foundations as needed to support cultivation and solicitation efforts
    • Provide support for additional tasks or projects as directed by leadership
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 2-4 years of experience in nonprofit development, grassroots fundraising, or donor relations
  • Strong understanding of & familiarity with the Palestine movement.
  • Familiarity with fundraising strategies, major donor cultivation, and small-dollar campaigns
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to draft compelling fundraising materials
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with donors and colleagues
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of fundraising strategies, major donor cultivation, and small-dollar campaigns
  • Knowledge of grassroots fundraising strategies & donor engagement best practices
  • Experience with event planning and coordination
  • Ability to analyze data and generate reports that influence fundraising strategies
  • Proficiency with digital tools, platforms, and data systems
Work Environment / Physical Demands
  • This position is remote work
  • Regular office hours are required each week to meet the 20 hr/ week hours (to be set with the Development Director), ideally between 9am-5pm with occasional evenings or weekends for events and campaign deadlines
  • Must have access to a reliable internet connection and a professional remote work setup.
  • Occasional travel may be required for donor meetings and events
  • Ability to move around the office or event venues and perform tasks requiring walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods

Employment Terms

This is a temporary, part time position. The start date is October 13, 2026 and ends on February 19, 2027. This position is 20 hours per week. This position has an estimated pay range of $25-30 per hour. This position is non-exempt.
