Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a Development Assistant to join the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) development team in a full‑time role. You will support frontline gift officers, manage prospect data, and help prepare materials for meetings and donor engagements.

You will gain exposure to alumni affairs and development, build relationships with alumni and volunteers, and contribute to annual fundraising goals within a dynamic university environment in Cambridge, MA.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of related experience or education may count toward experience.
  • Solid computer skills in a PC environment and ability to master new software and databases.
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail.
  • Availability for occasional evening events.
  • Cambridge, MA on-campus meetings and events required.

Responsibilities

  • Supports frontline gift officers with prospect and volunteer management, data gathering and reporting.
  • Prepares meeting and solicitation materials for prospect meetings and follows up on action items.
  • Gains proficiency in alumni/donor databases, researches prospects and produces reports.
  • Collaborates with gift officers on event briefs, bios and donor briefings.
  • Maintains reports on gift and donor totals, solicitation status and prospects in Advance and QlikView.
  • Coordinates travel and expense reports for officers; schedules meetings and records notes.
  • Provides customer service to internal and external stakeholders with guidance from manager.
  • Cultivates relationships with alumni, students, volunteers and parents to help achieve department goals.
  • Supports officers with volunteers on plans and activities to increase donor participation and staffs events as needed.
  • May facilitate communications with FAS constituents and broader Harvard community.
  • Serves as a resource for policies and procedures to make fundraising more efficient.
  • May assist the Harvard College Fund team during peak activity or staff transition.
