Responsibilities

  • Creating and managing the grants process, including workflow development and responsibility matrices, to support the grantmaking process.
  • Overseeing the tracking and management of all grants, ensuring proper documentation, timely reporting, and successful fund utilization.
  • Managing compliance and ensuring CCDSD follows federal, state, and grant‑specific regulations.
  • Preparing proposals by researching, gathering internal and external data, drafting, and obtaining approvals from the CCDSD Leadership Team.
  • Researching funding opportunities, identifying needs and opportunities, and attending strategy meetings.
  • Ensuring proposal deadlines are met by setting priorities, target dates, and overseeing the drafting, editing, and submission of proposals.
  • Creating reports on fundraising progress, grant outcomes, and donor engagement for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Writing and editing executive summaries, conclusions, and organizational and program descriptions for private and public grants.
  • Preparing presentations, including printing and digital materials, that effectively communicate proposal content.
  • Maintaining proposal quality by creating and updating templates and support databases.
  • Overseeing submission and reporting of all grant applications to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with funder expectations.
  • Drafting grant materials and related reports for the CCDSD Leadership Team.
  • Coordinating and engaging with the CCDSD Leadership Team on funding needs, opportunities, and processes.
  • Collaborating with the Fiscal Team to enforce grant compliance standards, monitoring financial and programmatic obligations.
  • Tracking grant applications, contacting funding sources about pending decisions, and updating status notes.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely progress notes on grants, donors, and funders as part of the fundraising workflow.
  • Representing CCDSD at funder meetings, site visits, and external engagements as needed.
  • Managing projects, special assignments, and other duties as assigned.
  • Managing in‑kind donations, including reporting and meeting with donors for delivery.
  • Researching opportunities to expand the funding pipeline through the Wealth Management System.
  • Managing and implementing the annual grant calendar.
  • Assisting with annual appeals and related stories, including filming and editing.
  • Representing Catholic Charities at events and networking opportunities.

$71,000–$78,000 per year

Position Description

The Development and Grant Manager oversees nearly every part of the fundraising process. The role involves planning and executing fundraising activities by coordinating with program and finance teams to stay within the annual budgets, supporting staff in researching opportunities, managing documents and deadlines, tracking program outcomes and deliverables, and more. In collaboration with the Director of Development and the Chief Advancement Officer, the Manager ensures that Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego (CCDSD) programs and services remain fiscally sustainable through diverse procurement and grant initiatives.

Job Responsibilities Include
  • Creating and managing the grants process, including workflow development and responsibility matrices, to support the grantmaking process.

Valid California driver’s license and current automobile insurance. This position is subject to a background check.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described represent those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires remaining in a stationary position 50–75% of the time.
