Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Support annual fundraising strategy to raise $500,000+ for the Community Fund.
  • Coordinate stewardship events, invitations, RSVPs, and data management.
  • Project manage content for blog and social media; track engagement.
  • Oversee events including the annual 5K fundraising event and related logistics.

Job Description - Gould Farm
Development & Communications Coordinator –Grade 8 Exempt

The Development & Communications Coordinator is a dynamic role that can manage and prioritize the details of donation administration, alongside event management, and inspiring stakeholder communications. Collaborative and self-motivated, this position reports to the Director of Philanthropy and has responsibilities that help ensure that the wider Gould Farm community’s resources are welcomed and well stewarded.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Administration (30%)
  • Administer and manage all aspects of the donor database.
  • Perform donor information and gift data entry; donor solicitation and acknowledgments, multi-year pledge payments, in-kind donations, and reminders, maintaining ethical fundraising standards and accountabilities
  • Develop and maintain effective systems for tracking and monitoring donations according to accounting protocols and audit requirements.
  • Prepare gift acknowledgment letters and mailings with consistency and accuracy
  • Reconcile development gift records with the Finance Department.
  • Use the database to track donor stewardship, donor info, moves management tracking, and prospect research (DonorSearch) for major gifts prospect identification;
  • Prepare regular fundraising status reports and dashboards for staff and Board Committees.
Annual Gifts & Donor Relations (30%)
  • Support the annual fundraising strategy and implementation schedule to help raise $500,000+ annually in new and renewed giving for the Community Fund
  • Collaborate on ongoing, current, and prospective donor stewardship plans to include tailored cultivation events, scheduled communications, and grant application and reporting support or targeted communications for campaign or capital fundraising.
  • Coordinate stewardship events and campus tours, including developing mailing lists, invitations, event logistics, RSVPs, follow-up, and data management.
Marketing and Communications (30%)
  • Coordinate and project manage communications in collaboration with key staff (ie, Development, Admissions, Outreach, Human Resources, and Program staff).
  • Support the material development, like brochures and rack cards, as needed
  • Maintain brand integrity across all platforms, both internally and externally.
  • Project manage the creation of content (digital, video, audio, and print) for the blog and social media.
  • Track engagement across various platforms to make data-driven decisions.
  • Oversee maintenance of website and social media presence.
  • Prepare in-house, or work with a graphic designer and printer on printing and distribution of all fundraising materials—in print and electronically.
  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy and the Outreach Director on message themes for all publications based on the targeted audience (annual or capital fundraising for facilities or endowment); Print newsletters twice annually, and two annual appeals in addition to the campaign fundraising.
5K Event (10%)
  • Plan and conduct the Farm’s signature annual fundraising event 5K to engage a broad audience, new supporters, steward neighbors, and underwriters, and raise $50,000+ annually.
  • Develop the event planning schedule, themes, fundraising goals, vendor relationships, and expense budget.
  • Identify and solicit current and potential sponsor prospects, as well as new and renewed participants and their support networks.
  • Manage the registration through the peer-to-peer fundraising database, marketing materials, and cultivation with the volunteer event hospitality and outreach team.
  • Coordinate and organize the day of the event logistics, including set-up, volunteers, program, and clean-up.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience in development, marketing, customer relations or related experience.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
  • Strong verbal and writing skills and the ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both internally and externally;
  • Strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Comfortable with learning new systems/technology.
  • Previous experience working with Google Suite and DonorPerfect donor/member database, peer-to-peer fundraising platforms, and social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) is preferred.
  • Ability to be a part of the first-line on-call rotation after 6 months
  • Actively participate in cultivating a nurturing community culture by participating in staff meetings and community meetings, and recreational and holiday activities
  • Be able to work occasional nights and weekends as required for events
  • Consistent in-person weekly presence is required for this position and/or may also include residency at the Farm (living at Gould Farm in employer-provided low-cost housing). Should suitable housing not be available at the time of hire, agreement to move to the Farm as soon as suitable housing is available is a contingency of employment.
  • Must be willing to promote the values and spirit of Gould Farm, and to actively participate as a member of the community.
Compensation

Salary range is $45,000 - $54,000 annually, with a great benefits package including medical/dental insurance (employer pays 85% of premiums and up to 100% of deductible), life insurance, generous Paid Time Off (PTO includes 5 weeks of vacation and holidays the first two years and 6 weeks thereafter), generous sick time accrual, 401K, low-cost on-campus housing including utilities available, generous food benefit including prepared meals 3X a day and access to basic pantry items and Farm made products.
