Job summary

Mission Staffing seeks a Development Accountant to support its Development Services Accounting team in NYC. This maternity-leave position covers multiple active development projects from job costing through month-end close.

The role involves liaising with lenders, owners, and construction managers, reviewing invoices, contracts, and change orders, and ensuring accurate project costing and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of AIA billing and payment applications.
• Experience preparing monthly requisitions and/or capital calls.
• Timberline and/or TimberScan experience strongly preferred.
• Strong GL, AP, job-costing, reconciliation, and month-end close skills.
• Ability and willingness to work 100% onsite in NYC.

Responsibilities

• Maintain books and records for multiple development projects.
• Prepare monthly requisitions for lenders and/or owners.
• Review construction invoices and AIA payment applications.
• Attend job-site meetings with lenders and/or construction managers.
• Review construction contracts, change orders, and commitments.
• Track project spending against approved budgets.
• Review and post accounts payable entries.
• Reconcile job-cost subledgers to the general ledger.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, cash receipts, and month-end closing entries.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations.
• Assist with annual financial statement reviews and audits.
• Communicate regularly with construction managers, lenders, owners, and vendors.
