Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Arlington, VA is seeking a Software Development Engineer for the Programming Foundations Team within Amazon Builder Experience. You will design and build developer tools used by Amazon engineers, focusing on the Language Experience and shared software platform.

The role requires deep technical leadership across distributed systems, with hands-on coding in C#, C++, Java, or Perl, and collaboration across teams to evolve scalable toolchains and build systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design and build developer tools that Amazon engineers use every day.
• Work with languages and libraries that power Amazon's services, making them easier to use and more reliable.
• Help maintain build tools, compilers and package managers.
• Collaborate with engineers across Amazon to address pain points and build tools that address them.
