A leading company in the tech sector is seeking a Developer Relations Lead to manage a team focused on engaging developers through content, community, and advocacy. The ideal candidate will have experience in DevRel programs and a strong technical background. Responsibilities include guiding the team, creating impactful content, and developing community strategies that align with business goals. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely with a diverse team and contribute to innovative projects in the PostgreSQL ecosystem.
At Timescale, we empower businesses with real-time insights from their data, allowing them to make faster decisions and optimize operations. We are creating a movement to unblock developers who are building the future. Timescale is a product-led growth organization driven by transparent leaders and a globally diverse, remote-first team that is proudly building a modern PostgreSQL cloud platform.
Timescale is the cloud-native PostgreSQL platform trusted by thousands of developers building modern applications—real-time, time-series, and AI. Built on Postgres, designed for scale and reliability, Timescale powers production workloads across startups and the enterprise.
Our users are engineers. They value clarity, performance, and credibility. We meet them with content and community programs that earn their trust.
We’re hiring a Developer Relations Lead to lead a team of experienced ICs who shape how Timescale shows up for developers—through content, community, education, and advocacy.
You’ll manage a team of senior developer advocates and editorial lead, each with clear ownership areas:
Content strategy and roadmap
Low-touch community programs
Segment-focused advocacy and insights
Developer editorial and publishing -
Your job is not to micromanage. Your ICs are strong, autonomous contributors. Your job is to guide the team, clear blockers, align work to business goals, and navigate leadership and cross-functional teams.
At the same time, you are a producer—someone who creates content, engages the community, and brings technical credibility to the role.
The one area where you’ll own strategy directly is community. You will define, execute, and measure a comprehensive developer community program, spanning:
High-touch engagement: Champions, advocates, key customers and contributors
Low-touch programs: Scalable, self-serve channels, content, and conversations
This program should connect community impact with business and marketing metrics: awareness, usage, retention, and influence.
What you will be responsible for in this role
Lead a high-performing team of senior ICs across dev content, community, advocacy, and editorial
Own the Timescale developer community strategy (high-touch + low-touch), aligned to company goals
Guide team execution and planning to ensure impact, strategic alignment, and cross-functional clarity
Partner with Product, Marketing, and Engineering to align programs to roadmap and GTM motion
Personally create technical content: blogs, tutorials, talks, integrations, or demos
Represent Timescale in public forums—at conferences, in writing, in communities
Help the team scale its programs through repeatable frameworks, not just one-offs
Build community health metrics, engagement funnels, and feedback loops that inform product and marketing
You’ve led or built DevRel programs in developer-first companies (infra, databases, platforms, tools)
You’ve managed senior ICs, and know how to give direction while giving room
You’ve owned community strategy and metrics—and know how to connect community with business outcomes
You’re a technical storyteller: you can write content that developers trust and learn from
You’re comfortable navigating cross-functional conversations and leadership forums
You care deeply about building programs with long-term value, not just surface-level engagement
You could be a great fit if you have
Experience with database or low-level infra technologies
Have scaled community low touch and high touch programs before.
Familiarity with time-series, real-time, or AI/ML developer use cases
Background in open-source ecosystems or partner integrations
Experience managing or scaling editorial operations
You might not be a great fit if
You are located outside of The Bay Area
You aren't comfortable with a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities can shift quickly.
You prefer a highly structured role with clearly defined tasks and responsibilities.
You're risk-averse and prefer stability over the potential for high growth

We will respond to all applicants
We strive to review all applications fairly, without bias, and shortlist based on relevant skills and experience.
