Job description

Espresso Systems is the lead developer of Espresso, a global confirmation layer designed to enhance cross-chain composability by providing fast and reliable transaction confirmations. Espresso confirmations help reduce finality risk and prevent issues like sequencer equivocation, making it easier for applications to operate across multiple chains. The network is currently in its Mainnet 0 release and supports various functionalities, including fast confirmations, decentralized sequencing, and low-cost data availability.

At Espresso Systems, we work with leading teams developing chains, rollups, and applications including Offchain Labs, Polygon, Cartesi, RARI Chain, and beyond—all united in our mission to build an open Web3 experience without silos for all users.

The Espresso team comprises a diverse and passionate group of contributors from around the world. We are developers, designers, and researchers who have contributed in academia, in open source communities, in policymaking, and beyond. We are backed by over $50m in funding from leading investors in technology and crypto including a16z, Greylock Partners, Electric Capital, Sequoia Capital, and Polychain Capital.

Shape the future of Espresso’s developer ecosystem

We’re looking for a self-driven Developer Relations Lead to become the bridge between our product, engineering, and developer community. You’ll be the owner of developer-facing initiatives, the guardian of our documentation, and the voice of developers inside the organization.

Your Mission

Your mission is to empower developers to build innovative applications on Espresso by providing exceptional support, creating educational content, managing the developer funnel and fostering a vibrant ecosystem. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the developer experience, gathering feedback, and advocating for the needs of our community and being the owner of major touchpoints of devs when first starting to experience and play around Espresso.

Responsibilities
  • Developer Ecosystem Advocacy
  • Act as the public-facing representative of Espresso to developers and technical decision-makers
  • Build relationships with developers, accelerators, hackathon organizers, and dev shops
  • Represent Espresso at conferences, hackathons, and virtual meetups, supporting live demos, technical talks, and coding sessions
  • Grow awareness and credibility for Espresso within the broader developer ecosystem
  • Technical Support & Product Feedback
  • Offer hands-on support to developers building on Espresso, from first contact to deployment
  • Troubleshoot integration issues, share best practices, and help improve developer outcomes
  • Act as a key feedback loop between the community and Espresso’s product and engineering teams
  • Programs & Developer Initiatives
  • Own the developer funnel, from first exploration to committed integration
  • Lead or support initiatives like hackathons, accelerators, and builder programs
  • Collaborate with ecosystem partners to launch campaigns and drive meaningful adoption
  • Educational Content & Documentation
  • Own and maintain Espresso’s developer documentation
  • Write tutorials, sample apps, quickstarts, and blog posts that help developers onboard smoothly
  • Collaborate with internal teams and ecosystem contributors to continuously improve learning resources
  • Community Engagement
  • Support new developers, moderate discussions, and make the community feel welcoming and productive
  • Engage with other developer communities across Discord, Telegram, GitHub, and other channels
  • Contribute to internal and external initiatives that strengthen developer connections
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in developer advocacy, education, technical writing, or a related role
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and accessibly
  • Proven track record of creating educational content such as tutorials, documentation, or video guides
  • Crypto-native: active user of Web3 products and genuinely enthusiastic about the space
  • Familiarity with blockchain development and smart contract programming (e.g., TypeScript, Rust, or similar)
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Solid Computer Science fundamentals or prior hands-on development experience
Preferred
  • Experience working with blockchain infrastructure (e.g., layer-1 or rollup teams)
  • Proficiency in languages like Rust, Solidity, or Golang
  • Experience deploying smart contracts in EVM environments
  • Existing network in the Web3 developer ecosystem and/or active social presence
Benefits
  • Fully remote with core working hours aligned with Eastern US (New York)
  • Work alongside the brightest minds in the crypto space
