Job description

Mount Thor is hiring a deeply technical developer relations lead to help engineers build on our macOS and Apple Silicon compute platform.

Who We Are

Mount Thor makes Apple hardware (macOS and Apple Silicon) available and performant at datacenter scale for AI workloads. We take consumer hardware and build the infrastructure platform around it to enable consumption as elastic compute exposed through developer-friendly interfaces. Our customers use us to develop computer-use model capabilities, deploy long-running agents, and accelerate agentic engineering.

The Team

Developer Relations owns the technical relationship between Mount Thor and the engineers building on our platform.

The team builds the code, documentation, examples, integrations, and technical resources developers need to run real workloads on remote Apple hardware. It works directly with Platform, Fleet, Network Infrastructure, Product, and customers to find friction, improve the developer experience, and turn internal systems knowledge into public artifacts engineers can trust.

This is an engineering role. You will spend significant time writing code, operating workloads on macOS, debugging failures, and measuring performance—not simply describing work done by other teams.

In this role you will
  • Build and maintain example applications, tools, integrations, and reference implementations for developing and operating workloads on Mount Thor.
  • Use the platform as a developer would. Run computer-use models, long-running agents, build and test workloads, and other demanding applications across macOS and Apple Silicon systems.
  • Own technical documentation for the developer journey, including quickstarts, platform guides, macOS configuration, workload lifecycle, networking, storage, observability, and troubleshooting.
  • Produce reproducible benchmarks and technical deep dives covering Apple hardware generations, macOS configurations, workload performance, reliability, and system tradeoffs.
  • Work directly with developers during onboarding and complex technical investigations. Turn recurring problems into documentation, tooling, automated checks, or product improvements.
  • Build integrations with the agent frameworks, developer tools, CI systems, and AI workflows used by Mount Thor’s customers.
  • Find difficult bugs across application code, macOS, virtualization, networking, storage, and the underlying compute platform. Create strong reproductions and work with engineering to resolve them.
  • Represent developers inside Mount Thor. Bring concrete feedback, missing capabilities, and rough edges into product and engineering decisions.
  • Teach through working code, technical writing, workshops, and demonstrations. Establish a high-signal presence in the developer and open-source communities relevant to Apple infrastructure and agentic engineering.
You might thrive in this role if you have
  • Worked as a software, platform, infrastructure, or developer-tools engineer on production systems.
  • Strong software engineering skills in Python, Go, Rust, Swift, or a similar language.
  • Deep knowledge of macOS and Apple Silicon. You understand processes, services, permissions, code signing, system security, networking, storage, and performance on the platform.
  • Experience building or operating cloud infrastructure, remote development environments, bare-metal compute, virtual machines, or distributed systems.
  • Built tools, libraries, integrations, or example applications that other developers use.
  • Experience debugging problems across application, operating-system, and infrastructure boundaries.
  • Strong technical writing skills. You can explain difficult systems precisely without hiding important implementation details or tradeoffs.
  • Experience designing reproducible tests or benchmarks and communicating the results accurately.
  • Public technical work we can evaluate, such as open-source contributions, repositories, documentation, benchmarks, or substantive technical writing.
  • Led ambiguous, cross-functional technical work from an unclear problem to a shipped result.
Bonus Skills
  • Built infrastructure or developer tools for macOS at scale.
  • Worked with Apple Virtualization.framework, Hypervisor.framework, Metal, MLX, Core ML, or other Apple platform technologies.
  • Built computer-use agents, macOS automation, remote-interaction systems, or agent evaluation infrastructure.
  • Worked with macOS recovery, secure boot, device provisioning, MDM, or automated machine lifecycle management.
  • Built SDKs, CLIs, API clients, CI integrations, or developer portals.
  • Operated Kubernetes, workload schedulers, bare-metal fleets, or multi-tenant cloud platforms.
  • Worked in developer relations, solutions architecture, forward-deployed engineering, or another technical role embedded with external engineering teams.
  • Maintained or contributed substantially to an open-source developer or infrastructure project.
