Job description

Developer Evangelist

Job type: Full Time · Department: Marketing · Work type: Hybrid · USD 115,000-135,000 / year

New York, New York, United States

Our Mission

We’re building infrastructure for modern healthcare delivery.

Traditional healthcare is plagued with outdated, monolithic EHRs designed to maximize billing outcomes. Patient outcomes and provider experiences have been afterthoughts, as these systems have bolted on non-API-first solutions. None of this is built for how clinically excellent healthcare is actually delivered—longitudinally and collaboratively, with the patient at the center.

Healthie is the world’s leading API‑first, ONC‑Certified EHR for healthcare delivery outside of the hospital. We provide the powerful infrastructure every scaling organization needs—EHR, scheduling, patient engagement, billing, and more—all accessible via modern APIs and a white‑labeled UI. Our platform makes it simple for organizations of any size to launch, customize, and scale their care delivery models without reinventing the wheel.

Today, over 2 billion API calls are made to Healthie every month, as thousands of organizations—working with more than 20 million patients in total—rely on Healthie to deliver clinically excellent healthcare in over 35 specialties, from preventative medicine to complex chronic care management.

We believe in the power of technology to improve access to healthcare—and we’re building the rails that make this a reality. We work fast and with quality because we provide business‑critical, healthcare‑critical software that clinicians and patients need for a better healthcare system. We’re customer‑obsessed, operate with lightning‑fast processes and responses, make our product roadmap public so customers can see what we’re building, and remain relentlessly focused on how care gets delivered.

Healthie is backed by leading investors, and while we've $42M raised to date, more importantly, we operate with fiscal responsibility and have been profitable for more than half of our time as a company.

About the role

We're humbled to have thousands of developers who build on Healthie's APIs every day, a community that has grown organically, and a talented, mission‑driven group of individuals passionate and vocal about what we do well and where we can go further. Our Developer community deserves the best, and we are obsessed with making sure that our API and Developer Experience are reflective of what we believe healthcare mandates and deserves.

Utilization of Healthie’s API has accelerated multi‑fold in the past 24 months. We love this, because it means that our customers are leveraging our API to build custom interfaces, deliver clinic‑specific tooling for clinicians and administrators, and automate many of the actions taken within the EHR. For the first time in healthcare because of technology, last‑mile configurations, dreams, and desires are possible because of API‑First technology that enables humans and agents to customize and build the last mile.

As our first and only Developer Evangelist, you'll own the infrastructure, content, and relationships that help builders understand what's possible on Healthie, and make sure they can find and use everything they need to get it done well and fast.

What You’ll Do
Build and lead our developer community
  • Invest in and grow the developer community we already have: the forum, the Discord, the GitHub presence, the regular touchpoints that make builders feel genuinely supported.
  • Be the person developers trust: answering questions, closing the loop on feedback, and making sure the people building on Healthie know they're not on their own.
  • Run events, AMAs, and office hours that connect our community directly to our product and engineering teams.
Own the developer content strategy
  • Develop the content plan that maps to our platform story — what we publish, where, how often, and for whom.
  • Write and produce technical content: integration walkthroughs, architecture guides, API use case spotlights, and "here’s what you can build" demos that make the possibilities feel real and reachable.
  • Create the diagrams, stack guides, and reference architectures that help developers immediately understand how Healthie fits into their broader tech stack and support them as those decisions change over time.
Make our documentation world‑class
  • Audit what we have, identify the gaps, and drive a meaningful upgrade to our developer‑facing docs — guides, quickstarts, code samples, and reference material.
  • Develop guidance specifically optimized for LLM‑assisted development, so that customers building on Healthie via AI coding tools have clear rails to work within and a dramatically better experience.
  • Work closely with Engineering to ensure our documentation reflects hard rules around things like rate limits and query depth (the guardrails that make building on Healthie safe and predictable).
Amplify the platform story externally
  • Represent Healthie at conferences, developer meetups, hackathons, and healthcare tech events.
  • Partner with Sales and Solutions teams to bring "show, don’t tell" to conversations — live demos, real examples, a tangible sense of what's buildable.
  • Help retire "yes, but you’d need to do it via the API" from our vocabulary for good. Own the live demo tool that helps our customers know how they can best leverage Healthie within their tech stack.
About You
  • You have experience in developer relations, technical marketing, or a role that sat at the intersection of technical and external‑facing work.
  • You can read, write, and reason about code, enough to produce credible examples, evaluate what's working in a quickstart, and hold a substantive conversation with an engineer.
  • You're an exceptional writer. Technical documentation is writing. Developer blog posts are writing. This is the core of the job.
  • You have strong instincts for developer experience: you notice when docs are confusing, when onboarding flows lose people, and you're motivated to fix it.
  • You're a community builder at heart. You know that a developer community isn't a Slack channel, it’s a mentality grounded in obsessing over the API.
  • You're curious about healthcare. You don't need to have worked in healthcare, but you need to find healthcare (compliance, workflows, the stakes involved) important.
  • Bonus: you've built something with an AI coding tool and have opinions about what makes an API and its documentation "LLM‑friendly."
Why This Role

Writing code is getting cheaper and faster. But building, running, and maintaining compliant healthcare software is not. That distinction matters, and it's what makes the developer community around Healthie's API‑first platform so important to get right.

If you've been looking for a role where your technical fluency and your instinct for community and content can work together — where you're not just explaining what's possible but helping builders do it — this is that job. The domain is healthcare, which means the stakes are real and the problems are hard. The customers are founders, engineers, and clinical operators trying to build the future of outpatient care, and they need a platform they can trust and a community that helps them go further. That's what you'd be building here.
