Job summary

SCADD is seeking a compassionate per-diem Registered Nurse (RN) to provide direct nursing care and medically monitor clients in our Southeast Connecticut Detox facility in New London, CT. The role supports individuals through a critical recovery step and reports to the Nurse Manager as part of a multidisciplinary team.

This position offers weekend, overnight and second-shift coverage with shift premium benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing or related health care field; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Current State of Connecticut Department of Public Health Registered Nurse License required
• CPR Certification required
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, external health care providers, clients, and families
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly in one‑on‑one and group settings
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize critical tasks in a fast‑paced environment

Responsibilities

• Perform initial nursing assessments and document ongoing client assessments in response to treatment
• Perform client admissions
• Develop, implement, record, and evaluate nursing care plans according to the age and specific needs of each client
• Participate in and supervise nursing care, providing direct physical care measures as needed
• Act as a primary nurse, working with individual clients and coordinating their treatment
• Execute the medical regimen of care as prescribed by the physician
• Educate clients and families toward an understanding of health, illness, and plans for post-discharge care
• Respond to medical and psychiatric emergency needs of clients
• Participate in the orientation of new employees and the transfer of knowledge necessary for the performance of duties
