Job summary

Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness is seeking a Detox Nurse to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care for clients undergoing withdrawal and recovery support. You will administer medications, monitor vitals, document care, and coordinate services with a multidisciplinary team.

The role is full-time and benefits eligible, with an evening/night shift that includes a $5 differential and occasional weekends. Maine RN license and tribal/community experience preferred; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Must hold an unrestricted RN license in the State of Maine.
• 1 year of detox, emergency or med-surge nursing experience preferred.
• Experience working in Tribal Communities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with nursing intake and assessment during admission and complete safety screens.
• Process, manage, and implement orders from Licensed Independent Practitioners.
• Monitor client’s vital signs as ordered or per protocol.
• Dispense medications and maintain MAR up to date; ensure accurate med reconciliation.
• Observe and report reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
• Document all client interactions and counseling in the EMR.
• Order random urinalysis as instructed by physician or practitioners.
• Update medical and clinical team regularly on client care.
• Screen for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptoms.
• Provide direction to technicians and nurses on assigned shift.
• Provide emotional support through listening, counseling, and answering questions.
• Consult with in-house and external professionals for comprehensive care.
• Refer identified needs to WPHW services or other agencies.
• Meet nursing operational standards and contribute to program planning.
• Develop staff through orientation, training, and coaching.
• Maintain patient care documentation and nursing supplies inventory.
