Job summary

Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness is seeking a Detox Nurse to provide compassionate and culturally sensitive care to clients dealing with substance use. This full-time position involves monitoring client health and administering medications as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Candidates should have an unrestricted RN license in Maine and prefer experience in detox or med-surge nursing. The role requires strong communication and teamwork skills in a diverse environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold an unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maine.
• One year of detox, emergency or med-surge nursing experience preferred.
• Experience working in Tribal Communities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate and culturally sensitive care to clients.
• Administer medications to manage withdrawal symptoms.
• Monitor client’s vital signs as ordered.
• Document all client interactions in the electronic medical record.
• Order random urinalysis as per instructions.

Knowledge of substance intoxication and withdrawal signs

Ability to respond in crisis situations

Teamwork and independent work ability

Clear communication skills

Knowledge of nursing ethics

Familiarity with confidentiality laws

Knowledge of addiction medicine placement criteria

Computer proficiency

Attention to detail

Current BLS and First Aid training

Education
