Job summary

Oakland Community Health Network is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (Basic or Paramedic) to join the Sober Support Unit. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to monitor and assist adults in acute detox, providing safe, supportive care and facilitating linkage to follow-up treatment.

The role requires EMT certification (Basic or Paramedic), BLS, and a background in serving individuals with substance use disorders or related conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified Emergency Medical Technician (Basic or Paramedic) license; BLS Certification.
• Experience serving individuals with Substance Use Disorders, Mental Illness, Serious Emotional Disturbance, or Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities preferred; public sector experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing care assessments.
• Monitor patient health and vitals.
• Assist with physician-ordered medication administration.
• Document all care accurately and timely.
• Intervene in detox situations to provide immediate support.
• Maintain a supportive, non-judgmental environment.
• Collaborate effectively with peers and partners to deliver integrated care.
• Other duties as assigned.
