City of Grapevine seeks a Detention Officer Supervisor to oversee shift operations, evaluate performance, and coordinate duties for Detention/Transport Officers. The role includes training needs assessment and policy updates, ensuring adherence to PREA standards and department procedures.
The position requires management experience, criminal background clearance, and successful completion of mandatory training programs such as CJIS and Jailer certifications.
Supervises training, scheduling and performance of Detention Officers. Performs role of Detention Officer as required. Provides support to management as directed.
Minimum age of 18. High school diploma or equivalent.
Must pass TLETS access and CJIS awareness course within six (6) months from date of hire.
Basic Detention Officer’s training including knowledge of regulations for detention area conduct and operations, knowledge of first aid and five years Detention Officer experience or equivalent or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
Must pass a Municipal Jailer training class approved by the department. Must receive Intoxilyzer certification within one year from date of hire or at the earliest available opportunity thereafter.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check, polygraph and credit check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Due to Criminal Justice Information Security (CJIS) requirements, the candidate must never have been convicted, put on court-ordered community supervision, or probation for any criminal offense above the grade of Class B misdemeanor or a Class B misdemeanor within the last ten years from the date of the court order. Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Deferred Adjudication, or Felony Conviction are permanent disqualifiers.
Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, functional assessment screening (Level 1), Titmus vision screening, Ishihara vision screening, and a smell test.
