Job summary

Military, Veterans and Diverse Job Seekers is seeking a Detention Services Officer to assist in daily jail operations and handle a range of investigative duties related to calls for service from the Police Department.

You will process prisoners, conduct searches, log medications, and assist staff while complying with safety and confidentiality requirements. Flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, are expected.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and driving record must comply with Town policy.
• Must pass post-offer drug test and thorough background checks.

Responsibilities

• Process prisoners in and out of the jail, including paperwork, photographs, fingerprinting, medical needs assessment, classification, and property inventory.
• Conduct searches of prisoners upon entry and during confinement for contraband.
• Dispense and log medication to prisoners as needed.
• Capable of restraining prisoners when verbal skills fail to diffuse a situation.
• Process paperwork using basic computer skills.
• Maintain basic sanitation of jail cells as needed.
• Fingerprint citizens as requested for employer, adoption, or other reasons.
• Inventory prisoners' uniforms, blankets, and towels.
• Assist other employees as needed.
• Follow safety policies and procedures and inform supervisor of activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
