Job summary

The City of Chandler Police Department is seeking Detention Officers to join the Detention Unit. The role operates 24/7, is full-time and non-exempt with a 12-month probation. A $1,500 new hire incentive is offered in two installments and probation is required.

Candidates should have AZPOST Detention Officer Certification or equivalent. Responsibilities include safety of detainees, transport to jail and court, processing intake and releases, and custody oversight.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year experience in customer service.
• AZPOST recognized Detention Officer Certification within six months of hire or promotion.
• Must comply with AZPOST firearms requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of arrestees, prisoners and the public.
• Transport prisoners to/from jail and court facilities.
• Assist with intake, booking, and releases per court orders or secured bond.
• Oversee care and custody of arrestees and conduct holding facility inspections.
