Job summary

The City of Chandler is seeking a Detention Officer for the Detention Unit of the Chandler Police Department. The role requires handling prisoners, ensuring safety, and supporting intake and transport to facilities. A 12-month probationary period applies, with an initial work schedule of 3/12 then 4/12.

AZPOST detention certification and a valid driver's license are required. Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and one year of customer service experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AZPOST-recognized County/State Detention Officer Certification within 6 months of hire or promotion.
• Arizona POST firearms requirements must be met.
• Valid Driver's License or equivalent.
• Any combination of experience and training providing necessary knowledge and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of arrestees and the public.
• Transport prisoners to/from jail and court facilities.
• Assist with intake, booking, and releases per court orders.
• Oversee custody of arrestees and conduct facility inspections.
