Job summary

GEO Detention Officer role in Texas involves maintaining custody, care, and control of detainees while enforcing facility policies. This position requires vigilance, attention to safety, and the ability to perform duties across multiple posts to support secure operations.

Responsibilities include monitoring detainee movements, counts, and emergency response; preparing reports and logs; and assisting with security tasks across shifts. A high school diploma is required and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College coursework in behavioral sciences or security services preferred.
• Ability to greet and deal tactfully with the general public; follow written and verbal orders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee detainee activities in living, recreation, dining and visitation areas.
• Coordinate detainee movements, conduct counts, and provide emergency response as needed.
• Possibly serve at various posts (control room, health services, perimeter security, transportation, etc.).
• Provide security in program activities and supervise labor crews; conduct shakedowns for contraband as required.
• Prepare reports and maintain daily logs; assist detainees in case of injury or trauma.
