Job summary

Clay County Sheriff's Office in Florida seeks a Corrections Officer to maintain care, custody and control of detainees. You will escort detainees, conduct searches, and ensure safety during intake, booking and release, while following FMJS policies.

This role requires vigilance, clear reporting, and the ability to respond to detainee incidents and disputes. The position is full-time, on-site, with training and agency protocols guiding daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Reports identified safety, hazards, or non-compliance findings to the appropriate personnel and documents the incidents and findings.
• Removes and returns detainees to/from cells while maintaining control and officer safety.
• Maintains care and custody of detainees at all times per agency policies and FMJS regulations.
• Ensures detainees are prepared and attired for entry/exit per FMJS regulations and agency policies.
• Uses restraining techniques and searches (including strip searches) per policy; documents reports as required.
• Mediates detainee disputes using minimum force; handles disciplinary actions per FMJS regulations and agency policies.
• Responds to detainee incidents on or off site following agency procedures and policies.
• Completes intake/booking and release processes, including photos, fingerprints, jail paperwork, and notifying other agencies as needed.
