Job summary

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office seeks a Detention Officer to oversee inmate activities and maintain safety and security within the detention facility. Responsibilities include escorting inmates, processing bookings and releases, and conducting searches and inventories.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Arizona driver’s license, and completion of a thorough background check with polygraph and fitness tests. Six-month probation applies.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
• Must possess required certification(s).
• Background investigation to include polygraph, psychological, and physical fitness test.
• Minimum six (6) month probation period.
• Integrity, honesty, dependability, industry thoroughness, accuracy, good judgment, initiative, and courtesy.

Responsibilities

• Observe, control, and supervise inmate activities.
• Maintain safety and physical security of the facility, personnel, and inmates.
• Physically escort inmates by vehicle or on foot.
• Process inmate bookings and releases and maintain detention records.
• Perform physical searches of inmates and facility.
• Conduct inventories of detention facility supplies.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
