Job summary

Town of Gilbert is seeking a Detention Sergeant for the Police Department. The role supervises the holding facility operations, staff, and detainee care and custody during detainment, court, transport, and booking processes.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree AND 3 years of related experience OR equivalent education/experience.
• Ability to comply with Arizona P.O.S.T. firearms requirements.
• Successful background investigation and eligibility for polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Supervises subordinate personnel assigned to the temporary holding facility; provides direction and training
• Oversees the general care and custody of detainees during detainment, court, transport and/or booking process
• Plans, organizes and prepares required reports and documentation for holding facility and court processes
• Responds to inquiries and complaints pertaining to the facility and/or staff assigned to the holding facility
