Allied Universal is hiring for a Detention Facility Security Officer - Armed Access in North Charleston, SC. The role requires monitoring access, patrolling facilities, and responding to incidents within a correctional environment.

Pay rate is $18.50 per hour with a full-time schedule. Candidates must have an Armed Guard Card/License, 21+ years old for armed roles, and a high school diploma or equivalent. A background check and drug screen are required where permitted by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized personnel by enforcing site policies and security procedures.

• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, grounds, and perimeter to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access to designated areas, verify authorization, and report suspicious activity or concerns.
• Prepare daily activity reports, incident documentation, and shift handoff communications.

Job Description

Position Type: Full Time

• Mon 06:00 AM - 06:00 PM
• Tue 06:00 AM - 06:00 PM
• Sun 06:00 AM - 06:00 PM

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized personnel by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a correctional government location.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
• Monitor access to designated areas, verify authorization as required, and report suspicious activity, policy violations, and facility concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare accurate daily activity reports, incident documentation, and shift handoff communications in accordance with site-specific requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• A valid driver's license is required in the state where the job is located.
• Possess 1+ years' law enforcement experience OR 2+ years' security supervisor/manager experience OR 3+ years' security experience.
• Possess an Armed Guard Card/License.
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
