Job summary

The Department of Public Safety, Division of Juvenile Justice, seeks a School Educator I (NS) to teach core academics at the Perquimans Juvenile Detention Center. You will plan lessons aligned with NC Standards, support students with diverse needs, and contribute to an interdisciplinary team focused on education and rehabilitation.

Qualifications

• Must possess valid North Carolina teacher license (A or M) with teaching certification in middle or high school areas.
• Candidate must have a four-year college degree from an accredited institution.
• Experience delivering instruction to at-risk youth is preferred.
• Ability to use data to inform instruction and progress toward IEP goals.

Responsibilities

• Teach core academic courses to small groups of students in grades 6-12.
• Plan lessons based on NC Standards and individual learning needs.
• Maintain student records and progress; support interdisciplinary planning.
